Big Walk & Wheel

Thank you for taking part in the #BigWalkandWheel!

All week families have been active walking, wheeling, scooting, or cycling to school. It has been a fun way to boost wellbeing for everyone and enjoy the sunny weather!

Classes have been competing against each other to record the most journeys.

We are pleased to announce:

1st - 4P with 108 journeys.

2nd - RR with 103 journeys.

3rd - 6NJ with 93 journeys.

In total, a massive 1161 active journeys this week have been added to the Big Walk & Wheel website by Dunalley.  Resulting in a top 100 finish for large schools in the south-west and top 450th spot nationally, out of 1169 schools.

We hope you will continue next week, but school won't be recording numbers.  For more information visit: bigwalkandwheel.org.uk

IMPORTANT System Update – Edulink One

Thank you for your patience over the last few weeks as we change our management information systems.  We now have an important update to share with you.

Changing this system in school means that everyone (parents & teachers) will require new log-in details for Edulink One.

New log-in details will be sent out to everyone from 11am on Monday 23rd March.

Once you get your new log-in details, you can keep the same app but will be required to:

  1. Click on your current Edulink One app icon

  2. Do NOT open the app but click on the X by your name

  3. Click on the + sign

  4. Type Dunalley

  5. Click NEXT

  6. Log in with the new credentials when you receive them.

We hope that once you log in with your new details your experience will be very similar.

Regrettably one element that will be missing, is the ability to update your and your child's data.  For the time being, please email any changes to personal data, address, contact information or dietary & health needs to dunalley@dunalley.gloucs.sch.uk

Please bear with us whilst we continue to check data and iron out initial gremlins.

Year 6 – Visit to the STEAM Museum

Year 6 recently embarked on a captivating journey to the STEAM Museum in Swindon, fully immersing themselves in their World War II learning by dressing up. Our young historians didn’t just observe history—they lived it. From the emotional re-enactment of an evacuation to experiencing the cramped reality of an air-raid shelter, the children gained a deeper understanding of life on the home front. They also discovered the pivotal role the Great Western Railway played in the war effort. As always, our students were a credit to the school; their enthusiasm and exemplary respect for the STEAM volunteers was brilliant.

Year 3 – Visit to the Corinium Museum

Year 3 visited the Corinium museum in Cirencester to help them learn more about the Romans. We had a brilliant time attending workshops, exploring the galleries and walking around the ancient amphitheatre.

  • Nursery & Pre-school meals: £2.46
  • Free School Meals: No charge (remains fully funded)

Wonderful Women Afternoon Tea

Thank you to everyone that joined us for our afternoon tea last Friday. And a big thank you to all our bakers. Not only did we have a lovely time chatting to one another but we raised almost £200! Thank you for your support. Our leftover bakes and cakes were given to 10th Cheltenham Scouts who were raising money, by selling cakes to racegoers, during the Cheltenham Festival week.

A little reminder

Just a little reminder of the lovely news we shared last week: Miss Underwood will be getting married during the Easter holidays! We know our whole school community will join us in wishing her a truly beautiful wedding day and sending heartfelt congratulations to her and her fiancé.

When we return after the break, she will be joining us as Mrs Buckley, and we can’t wait to celebrate this joyful new chapter with her.

New Menu – After Easter

When school returns after the Easter holiday on Monday 13th April, we will be launching our new school menu.
The full menu will be available on School Grid, where you can explore the options with your children as you place their meal orders.

OPAL – This week

Lunchtimes full of sunshine – what a treat it has been!

The children have enjoyed a wonderful few days basking in the glorious sunshine and making the most of everything OPAL has to offer.

They’ve been blowing bubbles, trying out our new bats and balls, using the new mini litter pickers, and even painting bedsheets — just a few of the activities that have brought lots of smiles and laughter this week.

We are always incredibly grateful for donations, and this week we would like to ask for the following items — perfect if you’re having a spring-clean!

  • Bed Sheets
  • Suitcases
  • Paint brushes and rollers
  • Toy pushchairs, strollers & prams
  • Children's gardening gloves
  • Small World toys – Cars & Dinosaurs

Thank you, your support is very much appreciated.

Thanks to some helpful feedback from families, we’ve put together a little online wish list for our OPAL initiative. We’re definitely not pushing anyone to buy from any particular place — it’s just there to give an idea of the kinds of things we need, whether you choose to donate them or not.

Anything donated – please mark for the attention of Sara Byrne. Thank you

Positive Play Partners – OPAL

Our wonderful PPPs have officially begun their roles as Play Ambassadors, and they are already making a fantastic impact during lunchtime! They are easily spotted on the playground in their bright green bibs, making them easy for other children to find whenever they need a helping hand or a friendly face.

Today, Mrs Byrne also presented them with their very own smart OPAL badges. We hope they wear them with pride as they continue to support positive, playful experiences for everyone.
