Healthy Living & Learning Mental Health Award

We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news with our Dunalley families! Dunalley Primary School has successfully achieved the Gloucestershire Healthy Living & Learning (GHLL) Mental Health Award, which has now been approved by the Quality Assurance Group.

This recognition celebrates our commitment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and wider school community. We look forward to sharing more details about the award and what it means for our school in September, but we were so pleased with the news that we wanted to share it with you straight away.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure that wellbeing remains at the heart of everything we do.

PTFA Summer Fair - Fabulous news

We would like to extend a huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported our PTFA and all of their hard work in the lead up to, and during, Friday’s event.

We are all amazed by the amount raised - £3,294 !

Despite being a small team, our PTFA pulled off another absolutely fantastic event. While the final amount raised is still being calculated, what stood out to me was the wonderful atmosphere and sense of community.

The hard work of our PTFA in raising funds to support our school is something very special. The amount of time, energy, and enthusiasm they share make a real difference to the experiences and opportunities we can provide for our children.

OPAL News & Updates

We’ve certainly been making the most of our shady spots this week! Thanks to OPAL, children have continued to enjoy fun-filled, active and imaginative lunchtimes, even during the warmer weather.

We’re always looking for ways to enhance our outdoor play opportunities and would be very grateful for any large bedsheets you no longer need. They make fantastic shady dens and are much lighter and easier for children to use than tarpaulins.

If you’re having a summer clear-out, please think of us before heading to the tip or charity shop! We can often find a new purpose for all sorts of unwanted items, helping to spark creativity and adventure in our OPAL play spaces. Thank you for your support!

Our OPAL Award - Audit report

We are proud to share some of the positive feedback from our recent OPAL award visit:

  • Maintaining Platinum Award status for a second consecutive accreditation is no small achievement. It reflects a school culture where play is recognised as fundamental to children's happiness, health and development, and where continual improvement remains a priority.
  • One of the most impressive aspects of lunchtime at Dunalley is the inclusive atmosphere that has been created. Children of all ages happily mix together, building friendships across year groups and contributing to a strong sense of school community. Behaviour throughout the playground is excellent, with children deeply engaged in meaningful play. Whether dressing up, bug hunting, den building, dancing, painting, digging, practising gymnastics or enjoying wheeled play, every child can find opportunities that match their interests and imagination.
  • Congratulations once again to everyone at Dunalley Primary School. Every member of the school community should feel enormously proud of this outstanding accomplishment. It was a genuine pleasure to spend time watching your children at play and to witness first-hand the positive, vibrant and inclusive culture that you have created.
