  • Supporting our Families

At Dunalley, we believe that children learn and flourish best when school and homework closely together. We are committed to creating a warm, inclusive and non-judgmental environment where every family feels welcome, supported and able to ask for help when they need it.

Our Child and Family Support Worker is available to work alongside parents, carers and children, offering time to listen, share advice and explore positive ways forward. Support may relate to emotional wellbeing, behavior, routines, attendance, communication, or any challenges a family may be experiencing at home or in school. When specialist or community services may be helpful, we can provide clear signposting and guidance so families know exactly where to turn.Families in Partnership newsletters

We also recognise that practical support can make a real difference. Dunalley provides a pantry stocked with food and essential items, which families are welcome to access discreetly at any time. In addition, our pre-loved uniform shop offers good quality school uniform at very low cost, or free when needed, helping to reduce financial pressure and waste while supporting our commitment to sustainability.

Everything we do is centred around relationships, early help and working together with kindness and understanding. If you would like information, support or simply a friendly conversation, please contact our Child and Family Support Worker through the school office, or speak to a member of staff at drop-off or pick-up. No question or worry is ever too small — we are here to help.

Meet our Child and Family Worker, Emily Alway

Hello, my name is Emily, and I am delighted to have joined Dunalley Primary School.

I have worked with children and families for nearly 10 years, across a wide range of roles and settings. This has given me valuable experience supporting children of different ages and backgrounds, as well as working closely with parents to ensure every child feels safe, happy, and able to thrive.

I would describe myself as a friendly and approachable person, and I hope parents and carers feel comfortable coming to me if they ever need a chat, advice, or just a listening ear. Building positive relationships with families is something I value highly, and I am really looking forward to being part of the Dunalley community.

I am excited to get to know the children and families here and to contribute to the supportive and nurturing environment that makes Dunalley such a special school.

If you’d like to meet with Emily, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can call 01242 512391 for a chat, email familysupport@dunalley.gloucs.sch.uk or drop by to see if she is available at the beginning or end of the school day. Emily is usually at the main school entrance or the field entrance during these times.
