Inclusion and Designated Safeguarding Lead

Dunalley Primary School is looking to appoint an exceptional Inclusion and Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our Senior Leadership Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and forward-thinking teacher or leader who wants to make a significant difference to children and families. We are looking for someone who combines a deep commitment to inclusion and safeguarding with the energy, curiosity and ambition to help us continually develop our practice.
Education is changing. Expectations around inclusion, SEND, safeguarding and support for vulnerable learners continue to evolve, and we want a leader who is excited by that challenge: someone who will keep abreast of emerging thinking, evidence and national developments and help us consider what these mean for our children, our staff and our school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our whole-school approach to inclusion and safeguarding, ensuring that children who may face barriers to learning, participation or wellbeing receive the right support while benefiting from high expectations and an ambitious curriculum.
The post holder will be our:
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
- Designated Teacher for looked-after and previously looked-after children
They will also provide strategic leadership for Pupil Premium, pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL), and wider aspects of inclusion and disadvantage.
As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Headteacher, other leaders, teachers, support staff, families and external professionals. You will have the opportunity and authority to influence whole-school practice, develop the expertise of others and help shape the future direction of our school.
This is a substantial leadership role, and we want to find the right person. Visits to Dunalley are warmly encouraged and will provide an opportunity to meet us, see the school in action and discuss our ambitions for the role with the Headteacher.

Preschool Practitioner – 1 to 1
A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an outstanding professional to join our nursery team.
As a successful early year’s practitioner, the successful candidate will play a key role supporting the healthy growth and development of our children. We welcome applications from candidates who:

OPAL Play Partners
We are seeking to recruit additional members to our team of dynamic Play Partners who will support meaningful and productive child-initiated play during our lunch times at Dunalley Primary School.
This is a fabulous opportunity to join our team here at Dunalley as we implement a new, whole school play initiative.
Nestled in the heart of Cheltenham, Dunalley Primary School is a nurturing, community-focused school with a passion for our beautiful outdoor spaces and wider environmental issues.
Always seeking to innovate and improve our practices, this is an exciting time to join Dunalley as we continue to develop our school site including our wonderful outdoor spaces.
The successful candidates will work closely with the OPAL Play Coordinator, other lunchtime staff and members of the Senior Leadership team to facilitate play opportunities to embed play into the school’s lunchtime period. They will ensure that all our children have a meaningful lunchtime play every day by creating a safe and stimulating outdoor environment providing social, active and creative play experiences.
Midday Supervisor – Lunch Hall
Thank you for your interest in this post. We are seeking a new member to join our friendly lunchtime team working as a Midday Supervisor in our lunch hall.
Working as part of the lunchtime team, inspiring, motivating and leading by example, making a significant contribution to the continued improvement of lunchtime provision for the children. Ensuring that all our children have a meaningful lunchtime by creating a safe and pleasant eating experience whilst maximising the time they can spend at play.
Members of the lunchtime team support children as they visit the dining hall and are responsible for clearing and cleaning the hall to a very good level during lunchtime and ensuring that the hall is ready for school use, such as PE lessons and assemblies each afternoon.
The post holder will have an important role in working directly with our children alongside other members of the lunchtime team under the general direction of the Senior Midday Supervisor, directed by the Senior Leadership Team who lead the strategic direction of the school.
Working with children requires stamina and resourcefulness. This post will require physical effort.
