Pre-school – Summer Term

It has been lovely to meet some of you and looking forward to meeting the rest of you in the coming weeks. I am looking forward to getting to know all the children and focusing on supporting them in being ready for school.

This term we will be doing daily phonics sessions, PE once a week in the school hall and jigsaw once a week. Alongside this we have two focus books a week. One book is a three-week focus and the other changes each week. Continuous provision (which the children know as free-flow/choosing) is mainly focussed around these two books covering all areas of learning. Adult-directed maths activities will be incorporated into the week too.

As this is the last term before the children make the big step into reception, we will be concentrating on being school ready. Areas in particular will be recognising their name, engaged for a period of time (carpet time) and being independent, such as putting a coat/shoes on themselves and using the toilet. Support at home in these areas would be great too.

Please could the children come to pre-school with spare clothes, sun hat and sun cream to be applied at home on the warmer days. Named items would be helpful.
