Starting at Dunalley

Welcome to Dunalley

Our partnership with parents and carers starts before your child even arrives. We run a number of sessions to help you and your child settle in and get the best possible start to school life.

School Readiness
Our Reception teachers recently held a session for parents of new starters providing information about School Readiness:
School readiness includes:
* Social Skills – able to take turns and cooperate with others
* Communication Skills – able to talk about thoughts, ideas and needs
* Physical skills – able to dress and undress and manipulate pencils and scissors
* Literacy and Maths foundations – writing their name and counting carefully
If you were unable to join us for this information session you can see the slides of the presentation here.

Starting School Meeting
During the summer term we hold a meeting for new parents where we provide a range of important information.

Is your child ready for school? Are they up to date with their vaccination?
* Before they start school they should have had their 2nd Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) and their vaccination for diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and polio(DTaP/IPV)
* Unsure? Check your child’s vaccination status with your GP Surgery
