Eco News - What's under your feet project.
Thank you to all of the keen eco warriors who stayed after school on our final Friday before half term, especially the parents, without whom we would be unable to undertake these projects.
We were involved in two exciting activities; one recording birds visiting our site and the other collecting worms and other invertebrates from under the soil. Sadly not many birds showed up, but there were plenty of worms to count and measure!
Mrs Raybould has been busy inputting all of our data which will help scientists at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO). They want to better understand the relationship between climate, the availability of invertebrates and how this impacts UK bird numbers and their migration patterns.
We will be inviting everyone back in March and June to repeat the investigations again.
Schools that contribute to the study by uploading their data to the Pod will be credited in a scientific paper written by the BTO and we may even be invited to meet Chris Packham. How exciting! From Mrs Barnett & Mrs Raybould.

Last half term we upgraded the calendar on the school website and on the date list at the end of the Dunalley Update. More information can be found about each event if you click on the event title. If you have a Google calendar you can also save events straight into it.
